Miss India was a TV serial that was aired on Doordarshan (DD1) on 19 May 2004 at 9:30 PM. Produced by Rupesh Gohil, under the banner of Utopia Production Pvt Ltd, the show was directed by debutante Sabir Mustaffa. In this show, the female lead was played by Bhojpuri actress Pakhi Hegde.

Pakhi portrayed the character of Suhani Sahay and another actress Shilpa Shinde played the role of Sanjana. Shilpa later became a Telugu actress too. Actor Prithvi Zutshi played Sanjana’s father.

Other veteran actors like Dalip Tahil, Shweta Kawatra, Kajal Sharma and Carran Kapur also had played the lead role in the series. Cricketer Vinod Kambli also made a debut in this set by playing the role of a photographer. The screenplay was by Brij Mohan; dialogues were written by Rajesh Saksham, cinematography by Mahendra Ryan and music composition was by Sachin.

Dhadkan Meri Ye Sada De Song was used to show the romance and love scenes between the love birds of Air Hostess TV Serial, Aaryan and Maansi.This two liner Song has two versions, male and female, and was used so many times, such as in romance, love, sad moments between Aaryan and Maansi.

The show was an attempt to focus that beauty pageant life is not only a path of roses but even full of thorns. This beauty pageant based TV series was premiered as ‘Miss India’ television serial and was also titled as ‘Main Banungi Miss India’ television series on Doordarshan. This tv show retained top position in DD1 for three years. It was on the telecast from June 2004 till its end the series fetched a lot of revenue for Doordarshan.

The production company RDG Production House became one of the key players in the television industry after the success of this serial. Later, it produced another series based on the life of air hostess too. In the year 2004, the series ran successfully on the top spot on DD national with highest TRP. The tv show ‘Miss India’ is a story of a journey and struggle of a small town girl to become Miss India with the backgrounds of the fashion industry.

The series depicted the fashion industry in grey colour and proved that a model’s life is full of thorns and not a bed of roses.

Rupesh D. Gohil (born 22 May 1978) is an Indian TV & Film producer& Director, Founder and Director of RDG Productions Private Limited.He is known for producing serials on Doordarshan National channel & and Telugu films in south industry.
Rupesh D. Gohil was born and brought up in Surat city of Gujarat. After his schooling in Surat, he shifted to Mumbai with his family and he did his graduation from Mumbai. His father Late Dhirajbhai Gohil was a renowned businessman in Surat. Rupesh D. Gohil has a younger sister Sounia Gohil who is a famous fashion designer in Mumbai associated with brands like Lakme
Serials Rupesh D. Gohil has started his career as a television producer in 1999 with 'GUL SANOBAR[' a mega fantasy serial which got telecasted on DD national, UTN, Zee TV and on many international channels in various countries like Bangladesh, Indonesia, Bahrain, Brunei, U.K., and U.S. and later on experienced breakthrough success with the serial like 'MISS INDIA', which ran successfully on the top spot on DD national. Miss India was a multi starrer serial starring celebrities like cricketer Vinod Kambli,Dalip Tahil,[8] Ronit Roy, and many more. After Miss India Rupesh D Gohil gave another hit serial 'AIR-HOSTESS' again on DD National and making a benchmark for popular television programming in India and abroad. Later he made his debut as director in his own serial 'Detective Wagle' a detective drama series on Doordarshan National starring celebrity Actor Anjan Srivastav in the title role. In 2014 Rupesh D Gohil gave one more hit serial on Doordarshan 'Chhupaun kaise Laaga Chunari mein Daag' a love story with a Bollywood background which was ran successfully on the top spot for a year
Rupesh D. Gohil has produced over 25 serials in various languages for various channels and possesses a very impressive list of serial catalogue consisting of more than 1000 hours of memorable software.
Currently Rupesh D. Gohil is working on a subject a historical social drama series 'Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule' which has been approved by Doordarshan National.
Films After making a mark in the television industry, Rupesh D. Gohil have taken the next step forward by embarking upon the production of Feature Films in South Film industry in 2010. In this direction, Rupesh D. Gohil produced & released socio fantasy Telugu movie titled 'Brahma Lokam to Yama Lokam via BhooLokam' which comprises many Telugu superstars playing the lead characters Like Rajendra Prasad, Shivaji, etc., the movie was acclaimed by critics and received a fair response at box office in 2010. The next Telugu venture was blockbuster hit film 'Cinema Choopistha Mava' starring Avika Gor (of Balika Vadhu fame) as lead heroine in 2015 which ran successfully for 6 weeks in theatres around Andhra Pradesh and was listed as the most successful movie after Bahubali in trade guide.
Rupesh D. Gohil aims to produce three films in a year in different languages in South Film Industry.
